NUESTRA HISTORIA
El 12/04/1948 nace JULIA UJPAN VASQUEZ, hija del matrimonio de Domingo Ujpan y Elena Vásquez. Cursó un año de primaria que le sirvió para poder sobresalir en el campo comercial, laboral y social. Se casó a los 15 años con Aquilino Yojcom, del cual procrearon a 4 hijos. “JULIA” tenia visión futurista era una mujer emprendedora, hablaba de equidad, justicia e igualdad para las mujeres. Ella se esforzó por lograr microcréditos para las mujeres de aquella época, su ideología era justa y ecuánime, Educó a sus hijos con el fín de que fueran en el futuro profesionales, su visión era que las mujeres fueran la ayuda idónea en el sostenimiento de la familia. Hablaba de un trabajo igualitario y un salario justo, pues comercializaba con tejidos, intercambiaba hilos y vendía. La lucha era lograr que los tejidos se vendieran fuera del municipio. Pero La historia de Guatemala tiene un giro trascendental, pues en 1962 a 1977 inicia una guerra fría en Guatemala, en 1979 habían fallecido aproximadamente 1300 indígenas mientras que en 1980 se producen hechos dramáticos en la historia del país. El Gobierno del General Lucas García declara enemigo número uno la raza indígena por lo que anuncia años negros que se desarrollan con violencia, se producen masacres. En 1981 se anuncia un programa de eliminación masiva de indígenas, se crean las patrullas de autodefensa civil y los Comisionados militares, toda aquella persona que piensa diferente, con ideología de superación, que exige y reclama derechos es catalogada como guerrillera. Siendo JULIA UJPAN VASQUEZ lideresa, emprendedora, con conciencia social a sus 33 años fue cobardemente asesinada el 19 de agosto de 1981 a la 01:00 de la madrugada sacada de su vivienda y asesinada por militares y comisionados militares. La Visión y Misión de ella eran LOS TEJIDOS, venta de güipiles, cortes, fajas, servilletas, perrajes elaborados en telar de cintura. Por lo que en su memoria fue edificado “Casa Museo “Doña Julia”.
